Automatic platform screen doors (PSD) have become an ideal solution for railway stations, bus stations, underground stations, and all types of public transport. Large cities on the five continents now include PSDs at their transport interchanges and at stops along the entire route.

One of Manusa’s flagship projects is located on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The main avenue of the island, which is shaped like the trunk of a palm tree, can be crossed by monorail. It began to be built in 2009 and consists of four stations located at strategic points on the island.

Manusa, alongside its distributor in the United Arab Emirates “White Aluminium”, and with support from the large construction company Nakheel, was in charge of the design and manufacturing of a new station which has 12 automatic platform closure doors, a dozen emergency doors, as well as a control system for managing the station. These doors can be customised as they can be manufactured in different heights and widths. Moreover, its structure is highly durable, adaptable and reliable.

The presence of this PSD system guarantees the safety and smooth transit of its users because it regulates access to the monorail carriages. In addition, its functional and robust design allows for safe and orderly boarding and disembarkation. With platform closure doors, the separation between the platform and the stopping area for the vehicle is guaranteed, preventing passengers from intruding into unauthorised areas or falling onto the tracks.
